Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial

On Saturday, September 11, 2010, I was invited to attend the International Association of Fire Fighters Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service in Memorial Park. The memorial we have here is actually the national memorial.
The picture to the left is Colorado Springs Fire Department Battalion Chief Randy Royal and I. Randy and I worked ambulance together thirty years ago.
I also met an amazing photographer by the name of Deanna Gomes. She and others were taking pictures of the ceremony. The ceremony itself was to add 136 names to the memorial. So there were families of fallen firefighters from all over the country in attendance and it was amazingly somber. However, Deanna's tribute to them is so amazing I want to recommend it to you. You can see as well that if you need a photographer, she is the woman for you.

Welcome!

Welcome to my website. It has literally been four years in the making and I hope that it serves for the next two as I campaign and then serve again as your Colorado Senate President.
I believe in governmental accountability and transparency and I think it should start with me. In this website you will find copies of every bill I have ever sponsored that became law. Each bill has a brief written discussion that is from the annual bill digest and there is a link to the actual final bill that is kept on the state’s website. Some of the bills currently have short videos attached to them in which I briefly describe the bill. I will be adding videos as fast as I can so that eventually each of my bills will have a video.
You will also find explanations of my mission, vision and values so that you can see what I say I believe in and have a way to both evaluate whether I walk my talk and to hold me accountable when you think something I am saying or doing is not in sync with my bedrock principles.
The website will contain as many of my press hits concerning me as I can find. Unfortunately, I am having trouble tracking down some of them from 2007 and 2008. My goal is to have all of them right here so that you can see what I have done and what others think about what I have done without having to go all over the web to do so.
Finally, there is this blog itself. Of course there are a few rules that are posted just outside the blog that you can access anytime, but the object is to have a two way conversation with you. This is your chance to tell me what you think instead of just simply reading what I think. I am really looking forward to some great conversations and some great ideas to move Colorado forward.
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website. Let’s get started!
